Guide to Accessing Services
A resource from Chick Kastrinos and
the
Metro Area Mayors Committee for People
with Disabilities
At age 26 in 1996, Christine “Chick” Kastrinos,
was in a car accident and became ventilator dependent and quadriplegic. She
was politically active and fought for the rights of all people. One of her
dreams was to create a resource guide for people that suddenly found themselves
with a disabling condition.
Although
she was not able to complete this task before she passed away in 2008, her
mother decided to continue her work, and she brought Chick’s drafts
to the Metro Area Mayor’s Committee (MAMC). The
MAMC felt the Guide was very worthwhile and necessary, so they developed
and printed the guide below with help from graphic designer, Dennis Krull,
who donated his services.
